Carbon monoxide poisoning from food preparation sickens restaurant patrons

Officials in Hong Kong are investigating carbon monoxide poisoning in a restaurant that left 14 people needing hospital treatment.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health reported that the group ate a “hot pot” dinner using charcoal as cooking fuel in one room at a restaurant in Wan Chai. Hot pot is a shared meal that involves a pot of broth in the middle of the table with items such as vegetables and meat put in it to cook.

UPDATE: Tap Water Safe To Drink Again

UPDATED: 3:39 p.m., Monday:

Lower Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority Managing Director Vijay Rajput told the tap water is safe to drink as of 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Customers were under a boil water advisory since Friday afternoon.

The authority has been testing the water and consulting state officials as they rectified the problem.

The boil water advisory was a side effect of the remnants of Hurricane Ida from last week.

The Lower Bucks County Municipal Authority serves many residents in Bristol Township, Falls Township, Middletown Township, and all of Tullytown Borough.
