Frisco restaurants and more bounce back with StrEATS food truck festival

A celebration of food may be exactly what the Frisco community needs after a year of uncertainty for many local restaurant owners. The Frisco StrEATS Festival returns on Saturday, May 8, bringing together food trucks, bakeries and other small businesses.

The event is organized by the Frisco Rail District Merchants Association, which is made up of local business owners. This year Nicki Cooley, owner of Sweets on a Stick, is responsible for organizing the food truck and vendor list for the festival.

Though eating at Wendy’s is about to become even healthier, there won’t be any changes to the burger chain’s actual food. Instead, the company has vowed to update its packaging, which currently includes a high level of toxins harmful to humans.

Man robs North Oakland Subway shop of $15 worth of food

OAKLAND A gunman robbed a North Oakland Subway sandwich shop of $15 worth of food Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The robbery happened about 12:05 p.m. at the shop at 6341 Shattuck Ave.

The man ordered a sandwich, a bag of chips and cookies but instead of paying he pulled out a gun at the register and ran off with the food.

He was described as White, 20 to 30, about 5 feet 10 and 200 pounds and was wearing a black hoodie. No injuries were reported.
