Kaukau 4 Keiki Partnership Providing Healthy Food to Kids in Rural Areas

The USDA’s Summer Food Services Program is helping to fun the new Kaukau 4 Keiki partnership to provide children living in Hawai’i’s rural areas with healthy food.

The new partnerhship Kaukau 4 Keiki will provide healthy food during the summer for children living in rural areas of Hawaiʻi.

Weekly breakfast and lunch meal kits will be provided for children 18-and-under in rural communities with zip codes starting with “967″.  The weekly meal kits will be available from June 7 for Oʻahu and June 14 for neighbor islands. The program runs through July 31.

FAKH, Anthem continue partnership to combat food insecurity in region | Local News

Feeding America, Ken­tucky’s Heartland and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield are continuing a lengthy partnership that will help meet the need to provide fresh and healthy produce in FAKH’s service area.

With Anthem’s new three-year commitment of $420,000, Feeding America will be able to host 150 fresh produce distribution events that will provide nearly 1.9 million pounds of produce to 75,000 households in need.

“We know that oftentimes fresh produce items can be expensive, and as such will be one of the first items left off the plates of people dealing with food insecurity,” said Jamie Sizemore, FAKH executive
