Beer garden, food truck festival, new cigar bar

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — We’re bringing you Tri-State restaurant happenings and food news you need to know. Check out this weekly feature to keep up to date on the latest.

The Evansville Brewery Beer Garden will happen on Saturday, May 29, from 2-7 p.m. at Adams Avenue and Putnam Streets just east of Haynie’s Corner. A $20 pre-purchased sampling ticket will get you unlimited beer samples from Carson’ Brewery, Damsel Brew Pub, Haynie’s Corner Brewing Co., Myriad Brewing and the Ohio Valley Homebrewers Association between 2-4 p.m. After 4 p.m., live music begins and beer will be sold by the pint.

Frisco restaurants and more bounce back with StrEATS food truck festival

A celebration of food may be exactly what the Frisco community needs after a year of uncertainty for many local restaurant owners. The Frisco StrEATS Festival returns on Saturday, May 8, bringing together food trucks, bakeries and other small businesses.

The event is organized by the Frisco Rail District Merchants Association, which is made up of local business owners. This year Nicki Cooley, owner of Sweets on a Stick, is responsible for organizing the food truck and vendor list for the festival.

Food truck meal giveaways from community activist

POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie’s well-known community volunteer, Frankie Flowers was hard at work again on Friday, helping those in need.  Flowers, the son of the late John Flowers, a community legend, and brother of Councilwoman Yvonne Flowers, joined with Dutchess Outreach to provide food to anyone in need on Friday in Poughkeepsie.


Joined by one of his countless volunteer assistants, Flowers parked his box truck in the parking lot at the corner of North Hamilton and Mill Streets at lunchtime to giveaway groceries including eggs, milk, vegetables, and other staples.  There were enough bags of food for 100

Food truck chef opening restaurant in South Longview | Local

The name Freda Wobberton chose for her new restaurant — Fre’Duh’s Scratch Kitchen — tells a little something about how people react to her food.

They tell her it’s delicious, she said.

“And we say, ‘Well, duh!,'” Wobberton said.

She’s planning to open the restaurant June 1 at 401 S. Mobberly Ave., where King’s Hot Links previously was located.
