Md. Food Bank working to help keep students healthy

MARYLAND – With kids heading back into school, the Maryland Food Bank of the Eastern Shore is announcing a Supporting Wellness at Pantries initiative.

We’re told they’re trying to help students learn about nutrition. They say it will help build healthy eating habits early and help kids pick foods that they enjoy and are good for them.

Salt Lake City’s homeless lack access to healthy foods. Here’s how one group is working to fix that.

Robby Rocha says people will often walk through the encampment where he was living last month in a field on Salt Lake City’s west side with bags full of food from McDonald’s or Burger King.

“I’ll eat it because you’re hungry,” he said. “McDonald’s is good. But I like when they bring homemade meals and homemade soups and stuff.”
